Vanilla cream pie with raspberry chocolate topping

Vanilla pudding - pastry cream

2 C milk
1/2 c white sugar
1 vanilla bean
6 egg yolks
4 Tbles flour
4 Tbles butter

I actually ( having big eyes! ) doubled this recipe except instead of adding more egg yolks I simply added more flour for a thickening agent. Plus I wanted to use it in a pie.

Place milk, 1/4 cup of sugar, vanilla bean in pan and cook over medium heat.
Mix egg yolks with 1/4 cup of sugar until light and fluffy. Add flour. Put 1 cup of the warm milk vanilla mixture into the cold egg/sugar/flour mix. Then put all of the egg mix into the pan. Cook a minute..Remove from heat add butter.

Pour/spoon into graham cracker crust.

For my toppings I melted some Raspberry jam in the microwave for approximately 45 seconds or until melted.
Then I melted half of a cocoa bar ( as in 75% cocoa ) on the stove by placing the bar in a small metal bowl into a pan of hot water.

* I saved the egg whites for cherry Angel foodcake.

ps... I realized it was Friday. Yes, Friday. One would think I'd be aware of these things.
I'm still fighting this cold. I've been losing my___ .

Anyway... I'll catch up with you peeps on Monday! I'm calling this weekend an Artistic holiday! Cheers!

Hope you get over that cold soon!

That looks yummy, but I think I'd try maybe cherry or strawberry topping instead of the raspberry. (Sorry, I hate raspberries!)

That'd work, wouldn't it??
